Formerly a thrash metal tribute band, Lansing’s Past Tense began forging a new path for themselves with the addition of veteran vocalist Shannon Strobel. Gone were covers by their metal heroes, replaced by original songs steeped in classic metal tradition with a modern edge.

Led by Strobel’s blistering vocal delivery, Past Tense goes right for the nether regions with the thundering rhythm section of Matt Noe (drums) and Banzai Ryan (BASS!). Rounding out the aural assault are Stony Garza and Rich Bates on guitar, whose melodic interplay evoke comparisons to powerhouse guitar duos like Tipton/Downing and Mustaine/Friedman.

Past Tense has made a big impression on Lansing’s metal scene and have been named the 2016 Q106 Homegrown Throwdown Champions.
